Trifecta Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
Trifecta is a desktop application developed by Benefic Brands LLC (“Benefic,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information Trifecta collects, how it’s used, and your choices and rights regarding that information.
1. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
Trifecta is a local-first application. Your notes, canvases, tasks, settings, and other content you create in Trifecta are stored locally on your device, in your operating system’s standard application data directory. This data is not transmitted to Benefic Brands LLC’s servers, because Benefic Brands LLC does not operate servers that store your content.
We do not have access to, and cannot view, your notes, canvases, or other content you create within the app.
2. AI Assistant Feature
Trifecta’s AI Assistant can run in two modes, and you choose which one to use:
- Local mode: the AI Assistant runs entirely on your own device using a locally-installed AI model. In this mode, no data ever leaves your device — there is no third party involved and nothing is transmitted anywhere.
- Cloud mode (“Bring Your Own Key”): if you choose to connect a third-party cloud AI provider (e.g., Anthropic), you provide your own API key for that provider. When you use the AI Assistant in this mode, your queries and relevant context from your notes/canvases are sent directly from your device to the AI provider you’ve configured, using your own API key.
In either mode, Benefic Brands LLC does not act as an intermediary for this traffic and does not store, log, or have access to your queries or responses.
If you use cloud mode, please note:
- Your use is subject to the applicable third-party AI provider’s own privacy policy and terms of service, which we encourage you to review.
- That provider may use the data you submit to improve or train their models, depending on your own account settings with that provider. Check your AI provider’s account settings if you wish to opt out of this.
- If your chosen AI provider is located outside your country or the European Economic Area, using cloud mode may involve an international transfer of your data, subject to that provider’s own safeguards.
- You are interacting with an AI system whenever you use the AI Assistant, in either mode.
If you do not configure a cloud AI provider, or do not use the AI Assistant feature at all, no data is sent to any third-party AI provider.
3. Payment and Subscription Information
Trifecta offers a paid subscription tier. Payment and subscription processing is handled by Freemius, which acts as the Merchant of Record and reseller of Trifecta Paid subscriptions — not merely a payment processor. This means Freemius, not Benefic Brands LLC, is the seller of record for your purchase (it will appear as “Freemius” on your card statement/receipt), and Freemius handles related tax, billing, and chargeback compliance.
When you subscribe:
- Your payment information (card details, billing address, etc.) is collected and processed directly by Freemius, not by Benefic Brands LLC.
- We receive information necessary to manage your license and provide support, which may include your email address, subscription/plan tier, license validity, and renewal or cancellation dates — we do not receive or store your full payment card details.
- Freemius processes this data under its own privacy policy and GDPR-compliant Data Processing Addendum (DPA).
4. Sync Feature
Trifecta currently operates in local-only mode. A device-to-device Sync feature is planned for a future release; this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe what data Sync transmits, where it is stored, and how it is secured before that feature becomes available.
5. Automatic Updates
Trifecta checks for software updates automatically. This process communicates with our update-hosting service (currently GitHub) to check for and download new versions of the application. This check does not transmit any of your personal content — only technical information necessary to determine whether an update is available (e.g., your current app version).
6. Data We Do Not Collect
Trifecta does not collect, transmit, or have access to:
- The contents of your notes, canvases, or tasks
- Analytics or usage tracking data (unless explicitly stated otherwise in a future update, which would update this policy)
- Your device’s file system beyond Trifecta’s own local data directory
7. Your Rights Under GDPR (EEA/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the limited personal data we hold about you (primarily your email address and subscription status, via Freemius) is processed on the legal basis of contract performance — i.e., to provide the subscription you purchased.
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request erasure of your data
- Request portability of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at beneficbrands@gmail.com. Because Freemius independently processes payment and subscription data as part of its own Merchant of Record role, some requests relating to billing data may also need to be directed to Freemius directly.
8. Your Rights Under CCPA/CPRA (California Users)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction of that information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise these rights, contact us at beneficbrands@gmail.com.
9. Children’s Privacy
Trifecta is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are located in the EEA/UK, please note the digital age of consent may be higher (13–16) depending on your country.
10. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information held by us, we will notify affected users without undue delay, consistent with applicable law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
